Why Squarespace?
Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 10:33AM I’d like to respond to some of you that have e-mailed me and asked me why we choose Squarespace for http://unitednewmedia.us.
We are a company that builds sites, and the “cookie cutter” host (as some called it) we used for our main site seems out of place. After all, we do have experience using the most popular Content Management Systems out there. So why use something pre-packaged?
Well... the simple reason is security. The new reality of the internet is that there are hackers attacking Web sites all over the world, 24/7. It used to be that only the big boys, such as Amazon or Yahoo, would get hacked. However, now even you have a modest 200 visitors a week, you’re at risk.
The answer is to have someone worry about that full time and pay him/her a salary to do so. While that would have worked out great about three years ago, it’s a new economy. So, Squarespace is secure and backed up while being reliable for only about $14/mo.
It’s still about using the right tool for the work and that is what we try to keep in mind here at United New Media Holdings Corp.
